Founded in 1957 by Rabbi Yaakov Yosef Twersky and three other Holocaust survivors, New Square is named after the Ukranian city of Skver where
the sect orginated. New Square was the first totally Orthodox community in the United States. This is a tight knit population with limited
contact to outsiders.
