postscript: i saw "jordan" this past december. had dinner with him and
a few mutual boarding school friends. i'd actually begun to wonder if he'd mercifully forgotten the whole episode (it happened over 10 years ago)
but he hadn't. at some point during the meal he leaned over to me and asked, "do you remember that necklace with the shells you used
to wear all the time?" and i said "yeah...". and he said, "it's hanging in my window". it was at that moment i realized not only had
he not forgotten what transpired, but he mostly likely remembered it in more detail than i did. although i still don't know what
he thinks about it, and didn't ask. the next day i started writing
AWKWARD.
